The Price - Signing a 2 year contract worth over 2000$ in total just to get a 199$ phone is ridiculous. You can buy the phone unlocked but that will still cost alot of money.

500$ is a bit too much but honestly that's what it usually retails for, you need an AT&T contract in order to get an iPhone in the first place so you can't just buy one for 199$ with no contract and unlock it.
